I opted for a bike roof rack to get my bike safely between home and a variety of destinations. But, despite having taken the time to choose the best bike roof rack, I neglected to think about my at-home storage system. Feedback Sports started out in 2004, their aim was simple then and today, to create the very best cycling support products, such as repair stands, storage stands, and even trainers. The Feedback Sports Velo Cache is designed to be used in your garage, storage space, or even inside your home. 

The Detail

The first thing to note is that this is a freestanding bike rack. It consists of a singular pole and four legs for support. In fact, the Feedback Sports Velo Cache can be used for 1, 2, 3, or even 4 bikes. It is only the 4 bike version that has 4 legs, the other options have 3 legs.

This is a well-designed stand. Not only does it offer a stable solution to your bike storage issues; it also is smart looking and can be easily moved if necessary. You can even take it with you on vacation.

The frame is made of anodized aluminum. You can choose between black or silver, depending on which goes best with your current décor.

Aluminum is light but strong, ensuring the Feedback Sports Velo Cache bike rack looks great but can support the weight of almost any bike. Each cradle supports up to 40lbs.  

The stand has soft rubber points ensuring that your bike will not be damaged while being stored.

There are two arms for each bike, these are actually made of powder-coated steel, with each arm having a soft cradle that cups and supports your frame. You can also add baskets to the stand, allowing you to keep your bike gear with your bikes. 

The Feedback Sports Velo Cache bike rack has a base footprint of 23” x 32.5” for the 2 bike option. This increases to 36.5” x 38” for the 4 bike option. 

Each arm is 10” long and the overall height is 7″.

Ease of Use

Setting up the Feedback Sports Velo Cache is surprisingly easy. The bolts are inserted from the bottom, going up through the legs and into the base of the column. It can take a few minutes to get each bolt lined up properly but, once you’ve done this, the stand is very sturdy and ready for use.

Because it’s free-standing, there is no need to bolt it to the wall or ceiling. The main section comes in two halves which can be disassembled, making it easier for transportation. 

Freestanding

The fact that the Feedback Sports Velo Cache is freestanding makes it easier to move around your home or garage. But, it also means that you don’t need to mark your walls or floor by adding security anchors.

You are likely to feel skeptical the first few times you use this stand, but, you’ll quickly appreciate how strong and sturdy it is.

No bike storage rack is perfect but the Feedback Sports Velo Cache bike rack gives it a good try.

• Space Needed

If you’re looking at the Feedback Sports Velo Cache bike rack for inside use then you’ll probably find that it is one of the smaller units available. 

However, it is important to note that the amount of space needed will still be dictated by the size and number of bikes you’re storing. It’s possible to put the 2-bike version against the wall, but the length of the bike still needs to be considered when allowing space for your bike.

If you have the 3 or 4-bike version you’ll have to allow at least the width of your bike, including pedals, and the stand itself may still be wider.    

• The Cost

In general, you pay for what you get; the Feedback Sports Velo Cache bike rack is a good example of this. It’s not the cheapest option on the market. If money is an issue, you’ll probably need to look at some other options.

However, it is a well-made and sturdy bike storage solution. If you have the funds it should be high on your list of possibilities.

• Cleanliness

For the keenest cyclist, this won’t be an issue but it is worth noting. If you’re using this bike stand inside your home, clean your bike thoroughly before you lift your bike into position. 

If you don’t you’re likely to find your home has dirt and even oil marks on the walls, not an attractive feature.

Final Thoughts

The right storage method for you will depend on the amount of space you have available, the type of bike you have, and how often you use it. You should also consider the height of your bikes. It’s possible that two bikes above each other will be higher than the stand. You’ll need to make sure there is enough clearance in your chosen space.
